Thanksgiving Weekend Recap

Lots happened the past few days, to start off my recap, I was invited to a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with my bf at his sisters home. It was nice to be around so many awesome people during the holidays, especially when I couldn't make it home this year to spend Thanksgiving with my family. Black friday 2008 was the first black friday I worked. Honestly to say, it wasn't as bad as I imagined, thankfully it was busy the entire time I worked. I didn't really get to go shopping, but after work my bf did take me to bestbuy and I bought sex and the city seasons 3 and 4 for 12.99 each. :) sunday topped the highlight of my new canon g10 :) cheers to a fabulous weekend.

Reflection

I know, I haven't really been updating lately on blogger. much adventuring has occurred. I've been having that feeling again, that feeling that I don't see the reason of why im attending art school anymore. I just don't find it as exciting as I used to. The ideas that once flowed so quickly as simple to me whenever i needed to access them doesn't come to me as fast as it used to.
Besides going to school and working, I have been able to make time for myself to do a little shopping to update my wardrobe for the winter season. It has been getting cold, and I've managed to add 2 coats to my wardrobe so far. There is still much to be sighted, and i will be patient :). Not to mention I finally found a pretty purple eye shadow. :) anyways this will be all. i will update you all next time! :)

Update

Its been a while since i updated this blog, so let me update you on my life on whats been happening these past few days.

So Barack Obama was elected the next president of the united states. I was pretty excited about that. I had mid-terms this past week, my mom was in town the week of halloween, and i spent time with my bf these past mid-terms week. Work was pretty exhausting, and this morning my bf and i went to santa monica for a mission following breakfast at nicohols in marina del rey and then i went orange county to hang out with tina. We went shopping at the block, and that was pretty much my day. Tomorrow is my veterans holiday, and I've got plans to meet up with an old friend of mine who went to high school with me 5 years ago. Shes in town visiting from sacramento. We had planned to have a lunchon tomorrow and i plan to go to marc by marc in melrose after with lisa, should be a pretty exciting day.

Change Has Come To America.

I voted for the first time in my life today, supported my blue home state, Hawaii. I'm hoping for a new view, change for this country has long awaited for. I'm very happy and relieved that the democratic party will be running this country, once again since '92. Good luck, Barack Obama!

So, I really haven't been keeping up with what the latest styles of designer purses for the past 2 years. I was kinda over it for a while, since ive moved to southern california. I was thinking of selling some of my designer bags that i still have, and brought over from back home and just buy one to use everyday. Ive been looking for a bag in a reasonably big size and this has been a heart throb for me. perfect for everyday use, now its just hard to find in the color i want because I want it in black(picture 1), or even in grey(picture 2), i cant find a link for it :( i also want the matching wallet, but in silver marc jacobs totally turnlock mag bag+wallet, you shall be mine when I find you.

A Wonderful Sunday Afternoon

My boyfriend took me to this cute little bakery/cafe in santa monica, ca called jack and jills. I was so excited to try this place out. when we first arrived, it was really crowded, there were tons of people waiting in line for a table. after 20 minutes of wait, we finally got in and ordered, I ordered the pbc(peanut butter cakes) which was pancakes with peanut butter sprinkled with peanut butter cup pieces. it was AMAZING!~ it was all warm and gooey and tasty and I also ordered a side of potatoes. My bf ordered the Mexican hangover which came with scrambled eggs, chorizo and cheese, it came with potatoes and tortilla's. It was pretty awesome as well. Gladly to say it was a wonderful sunday afternoon with just the two of us sleeping in and then having breakfast. It was a great experience at jack and jills, other than just having to wait a while for a table, but surly I will be returning to try out other things on the menu.

A New Ritual

Not so much like my ordinary tuesday blues. First tuesday of a new quarter, and its the first time in a long time I don't have classes on tuesdays. I had work. overall my tuesday was great, I came home from work in the afternoon, did some of my online class homework, had dinner, and watched greek. Not too shabby, decent for my first quiet tuesday. Hopefully it will get better through out the next 2 months.

First Day of A New Qtr

Wasn't as bad as I imagined it to be. I went to my creative writing class at 1230pm and surprisingly to say I enjoyed it very much. It brought back many memories of when I used to write daily, not that i don't, because I do blog on a daily basis. Its just something about being in a classroom and writing short stories and poems, and listening to other student's ideas put into words amazes me, and the feeling of wanting to write some thing great in the near future brings joy to my heart.

Motion Graphics 2 was a great bang to the end of my night. I'm hoping for a good rest of the week as well. Maybe this quarter might not be as bad as I think, but I'll update you all about this, this weekend. Hope you all have a great week!

Vietnamese Food

Lee's Sandwiches are the most amazing thing ever. Very similar to Bali's sandwiches from back home, and I haven't had a vietnamese sandwich in a very long time. Vietnamese food has been my new obsession/cravings these past few days. I just wish there was legit pho places here in west los angeles. Hooray for little saigon in garden grove too bad its 45 minutes south just to get some. :(

Drivers In California.

I keep wondering day by day, how and why there are so many cars in the city of los angeles?! It annoys me for one thing, that drivers are slow here and very indecisive when they are on the road. I mean seriously right? give me a break... if youre gonna drive wreckless, please drive faster!

Breakfast @ Denny's

So this morning my bf and I were contemplating where to go to breakfast. We had gone to our favorite restaurant; overland cafe so many times recently for breakfast. We decided to go to Denny's. I ordered the grand slam, it came with 2 pancakes, 2 sausage, 2 scrambled eggs, and country potatoes. My bf ordered the heartland scramble. The pancakes were okay, the sausage was nasty, the potatoes were weird, and the eggs looked and tasted like it was pre-made hours ago and microwaved back up. All in all I would have to say the service was alright, but the food was disappointing, and we will never go back to Denny's for breakfast anymore. We will stick to our daily overland cafe ritual. :)

Breakfast & A Cozy Day.

I Had a wonderful morning this past thursday. My bf and I had breakfast at our favorite place overland cafe. That place is so awesome, I had french toast, 2 sausage links, and 2 eggs scrambled, and a side of seasoned country potatoes. it was so yummy! :) it kept me happy for the rest of the day. The second part of our day was spent bed shopping for is new place he had just moved into. After an unsuccessful bed hunting adventure, we ended up at home depot picked up a few supplies, and then spent the rest of the day setting up and painting his new room. Another great day ended in hugs and kisses. :)

Tuesday Blues Yet Once Again.

I haven't really been happy lately.. and I'm trying to rethink many of my decisions, and what I have some what concluded.. yes.. some what concluded is that I think I've been placing too many things as my first priority, some that might not be so important as I think it should be. Some times I think I can be in 100 places at one time, and do 1000 things at one time, but the fact is I need to admit that I can't. I have a real problem with admitting that I can't do things. especially when I know its simple, and I probably can do it, its just I have so much on my agenda that I think about so many things at once, that i start to fall apart. Im a competitive person, I like to see things through, and I hate to fail. I really hate losing, and I really hate knowing that I could have done things to prevent them. Watching so many opportunities pass me by has taught me to jump at every one that comes past my way. Then in certain situations, I forget that it shouldn't be a priority, and I jump in with both feet. Im just having a hard time right now in this portion of my life. I feel lost and exhausted to make decisions on my own, I just want someone else to make a decision for me and tell me its the right thing to do. I know its all apart of growing up and being on my own, I've learned so much about myself, what I like, what I don't like, and definitely what makes me angry, as well as what makes me happy. Though I know I still have yet a long journey to continue. I just need some time to figure out which paths to take, after a short detour.

Other than that. I'm actually looking forward to spending my labor day doing my forsaken motion graphics homework. :( Hope you all have fun doing whatever it may be!

Why is it so hard to find an apartment in los angeles?!? If anyone knows anything in the santa monica area, area code 90405 please let me know! my price range is 1400 max(if its a little more than that I might consider it depending on the situation). Must include, gated parking and laundry on site if not in unit. other than that, I'm looking for a 1 bedroom 1 bath with a dishwasher. Wood floors optional. Hi Chipotle, Remember me?

My bf and I had dinner at chipotle. I hadn't eaten there for over 6 months. So I decided to order a chicken quesadilla, it was very yummy(refer to photo above). Reason why I haven't eaten there for so long was because the rich flavoring of the food, fills me up very quickly and the taste of the chicken is too smokey for me. Since I hadn't eaten there in so long, I guess I had forgotten how it feels to eat there again, that is why we went there for dinner. My bf ordered a carnitas burrito. After eating there, I was so stuffed, I still felt the quesadilla the next day. I think it might have been the smokey flavor of the chicken. I think next time Ill just order a plain cheese quesadilla.

Tuesday Blues

Here it comes again, just another Tuesday. This Tuesday just so happens to be registration day at school. So i just registered for 5 classes this coming quarter. I think I might have made a mistake of registering for 5. Ill need more time to think about it, before next quarter starts.

Friday Night, Date Night<3

Was super fun! spent Friday night with my boyfriend. We went to see Tropic Thunder. So we decided to go to the theaters early, due to the last encountering of being stuck with sitting in the first row at the theaters the last time we went to the movies to watch Wall-e. We ended up going to a different theater. The movie was for 8:25pm, we decided to leave around 7:45pm, thinking it would give us enough time to get there we were going to amc century city. When we got there, surprisingly the theater was already full, but we managed to snag two seats right at the entrance, it wasn't the top or anything and it was still close to the screen, but it was way better than sitting at the bottom. as the theater filled up quickly, there were crowds and crowds of people, and my bf managed to point out Amy Smart, the actress. Now seriously right? I would never spot out a celeb! maybe its just the director spark he has, or I'm just blind. >_< haha. anyways there were no seats and Amy and her 2 friends had to split up to sit in different places. People who save seats for people that aren't even there when the movie starts are stupid. Overall, the movie was very funny, I had my share of laughs and I encourage you all to go watch it. Hands down to another great night.

Happy 1 Year Anniversary babe!

Evaluation Part 1

So, I was talking about self-evaluation about 2 weeks ago. Lately, I would have to say that my thoughts has been a little bit more clearer about school, life, family, friends and love. I tend to over analyze almost everything in my life, and I always seem to want to find something wrong, so I can fix it. What it comes down to is that at most times, there is nothing wrong, but I pick and I think about one thing so much, I start to see something wrong, when its not.

School.
I seriously think that my quarter is probably the worst quarter ever in history. We started off with about 30 people in our FA 2009 graduating class. Now we are down to maybe about 4 or 5 or less of us thats from the original group. One by one people leave, drop out, or just fall behind. Not to mention all the encounters of instructors that suck, and our quarter ends up with them, we complain about them and ask for a improvement, but the quarter after us benefits from it. We then move on and advance into upper division classes with out actually learning anything from the previous quarter. All the upper division classes are all computer based projects, no hands on projects or experimental hand-making prints. I mean I know you're probably thinking "you can always do it on the side as a personal project" yeah! I know, but whats the fun if you cant present it at school and show and tell. right? maybe its just me. I think that some classes should touch bases with our old school skills, so that we don't lose touch on what other options we have other than the computer. Don't get me wrong, I love technology, and can't live a day without it, but it gets exhausting to just sit at a computer everyday to do work because we're forced to. So my thoughts on school as of this moment? It straight up SUCKS!

Life.
Okay, so this topic I'm still trying to touch bases on. I would like to say that I'm happy and completely satisfied about the direction its going in at the moment, but everything is still so vague. It has yet to be revealed. In due time, maybe I will share.

Family.
Another topic that is vaguely not reflected upon. I'd have to say that I really have been losing touch with keeping in touch with my family. I call many times and it seems that each time the conversations get shorter and shorter. Hopefully that shall change soon.

Friends.
I have amazing friends. Each and every one of them is a blessing. Near or far, I know they will be there for me no matter what. Just a phone call away.

This is the most amazing cake I have ever eaten! (picture 1, Milk Baumukchen)My friend Tiff had told me it was amazing and at first I was very hesitant on purchasing one, but I decided to give it a try. I have to admit its probably one of the best milk cakes I've ever eaten. :) it has a very subtle taste of sweetness, so its not like any ordinary cake, its not packed with sugar, at least I think so, because of the taste, it also has a very unique look up-close it looks like layers of layers of cake like a miniature roll. I like it 15 seconds in the microwave, its amazing! you can eat it cold or room temperature. You can find this at Mitsuwa Marketplace they have other similar types and they all sound great. Only other one I have tried is the vanilla swiss roll. These sell for 4.59, sort of pricey considering its kind of small, but its totally worth it! so try it out!

I was truly in a unstable piece of mind when I said it was getting fun, I loath the program more than ever.

Aishiteru Gogo No Kocha!

Milk tea has always been one of my favorite beverages. After midterms to day I got off super early, so I decided to stop by Mitsuwa marketplace to pick up some food, but what I ended up with was a package of sushi nori, wafer cookies and a bottle of my favorite gogo no kocha which is milk tea in Japanese. Since I hadn't had gogo no kocha in a while, the first sip was a delight. it was very milky and tasty. Anyway, I just wanted to share that with you all :) so, the next time you happen to go to a Japanese market, pick up a bottle of yummylicious gogo no kocha, there may be many difference brands of it, but I like this one. (above) it goes for about $2.50 a bottle, but its totally worth it, when you think about it, all you daily boba drinkers a boba milk tea costs about a little over $3, so $2.50 is no biggy. Anyway, go try it! you wont regret it.

Weekend Extravaganza

My bestfriend Tiff came to visit me this past weekend. We started off going to dinner at Hodori a little restaurant in Korea town, its opened 24 hours 365 days a year. We both ordered the dol sot bibibap, and we've never felt sicker after eating it after. On Friday we started the day off going to Pasadena to check out the forever 21 headquarters, it was fun, and we sort of got lost, we stayed there an hour and then went to Americana at brand in Glendale. That too was a huge disappointment. So we decided to come back to west la and hang out at the boba shop in little miniature Tokyo. That night we made futomaki at home, it was yummy! Saturday, we went to the fashion district, walked 90 blocks got lost about 5 times and at the end of the day we were satisfied, with a huge bag of merchandise. We went to mitsuwa market place and bought some Japanese magazines at the bookstore. We then had dinner at Na Kwon House in korea town with my bf. Then finally Sunday.. we had planned to go to fashion district again, but was too tired, so we decided to just hang out in Beverly hills. We hung out the last few hours at my place and tiff taught me how to roll sushi with a bamboo mat, then it was time for her to fly back. Overall this entire weekend was a blast. I had a lot of fun, and im glad that tiff and i got to catch up. cant wait till i go and visit her in vegas again! this time im not driving! :)

So Lately...

I've been re-evaluating everything thats been going on in my life. To sum up everything in a paragraph or so, I've been thinking about re-writing my list of goals. (ill tell you more about it when I get around to doing it) So the updates on whats going on lately since I haven't blogged in a while, nothing much really. I finally started latching on to some adobe after effects techniques, and the fact that I'm starting to understand the program, makes me want to get more into the work because its starting to feel fun (just a little :P). I mean I always knew it was gonna happen like that, I just needed some time to get used to the program. Learning it in monday's class was a terror, it was just so much information to absorb. Tuesdays class (which is a beginners motion graphics) however is starting to get fun. Anyways, I haven't eaten out anywhere lately, so no reviews on food. One of my best friend's is flying in from vegas to visit me this weekend, so I'm pretty hyped about that, haven't seen her since spring break. Anyways ill update later on in the week, and talk about the wonderful adventures we go on. :)

Fresh Leafy Guilt Part 2

My bf and I had dinner at tender greens tonight, due to my last visit I wasn't about to order the chinese chicken salad again. This time around the chipotle barbecue chicken salad caught my eye, so I decided to order that. It looked amazing! it came with romane lettuce sliced up chipotle chicken pieces, avocado, tortilla strips, cheese with some sort of lime dressing. Just looking at this salad made my mouth water. We sat outside in the patio and the moment I started eating this amazingly looking salad I was so disappointed beyond describing. First of all there was more chicken fat than actual chicken in the salad, the portion was not worth 10$ and it was not satisfying at all. sadly to say I had a horrible 2nd visit at tender greens, don't think I will ever try another salad for a while, however maybe the next time I do decide to visit again I will try a soup.

A Graphic Design Delight

Typography has always been one of my best interests. I've started a graphic design library about 2 years ago, and normally when I see a book that I feel is worth owning at the bookstore I go on amazon and purchase it there to add to my collection. I like to browse through the books before I purchase it, sadly to say I haven't seen this book at any store yet, or that I have visited so far, by saying that I reminded myself that it is time to visit the normal 2 graphic design bookstores I normally go to, but haven't been to in a while. As for the above picture, this is just another potential book I feel I need to add to my typography collection called "Type Addicted" pretty nifty eh?. :)

Short-term Goal

I'm not buying any clothes or shoes until I achieve toned-ness or potential goal of toned-ness to my satisfaction or atleast until I don't feel and see myself as a fatso (which could probably take a while, because in your own eyes you'll always see what everyone dosent see).

Adobe After Effects

So lately I've been trying to learn this program for about 2 weeks now, and I still haven't fully understood how to really use it and its getting very frustrating. How to set keyframes and set the time and whatnot. I just cant exactly grasp the concept of how it really works. I'm losing hope and interest into learning it, because I cant seem to understand it technically. If anyone knows any tutorial sites or anything at all that will teach me step by step through learning this program let me know! much is appreciated. :)

A Laughing Matter

A friend of mine, yes. A friend of mine was skipping up the stairs in sandals, hippidy hoppidy she goes then all of a sudden POW~!!! face first into the ground all ligaments shaking in the air. Out come? bruised foot and knee, what would you do if you saw this? I laughed so hard I almosted peed in my pants :P

The Cheesecake Factory Experience

So, my bf and I celebrated our anniversary at the cheesecake factory. It was my first time there, due to the fact that when I was living back home there was only one location, and it took a million years to get in, because it was located in the tourist area. We decided to go to the marina del ray location, it was next to the ocean and the scenery was beautiful. We were seated outside on the patio there were heat lamps to keep us warm. the atmosphere was great! There was a very tastyful menu. We started off with an appetizer we ordered avocado egg rolls. that was very yummy! except for the dip it tasted like a samosa, (those Indian fried thingys) I decided to order the herb crusted salmon, and my bf order the filet mignon. Picture 1 is of my salmon dish, it came with mash potatos and asparagus with a drizzle of lemony cream. Picture 2 is my bf enjoying his filet mignon with A1 steak sauce. The salmon was very tasty and tender melted in my mouth, a little too tender I perfer my salmon to be cooked well and the meat a little more textured, the mash potatoes was a delight! I enjoyed it very much, it was creamy, buttery and chunky. I ate only 1/4s of my meal, and had to take the rest of my meal to go. I was stuffed due to the egg rolls, I mean seriously right? I think the person who invented appetizers was a chubby person, food, before food? or like the bread basket? its like free food before food. seriously, when you even get to your entree, you're already a stuffed dinosaur. but overall it was a wonderful dish. the filet mignon however, was amazing and was just right :) (refer to picture 2 for proof) after our meal we decided to share a slice of Godiva cheese cake (picture 3). It was a little too chocolaty for me, I'm not a huge fan of chocolate, but it was still amazing! too bad I could only savor only one bite, I was so stuffed It was a wonderful night having a candle light dinner. Overall my first time at the cheesecake factory was a great experience, the service was excellent, and our meal came quick, the marina del ray location a definite re-visitor. :) oh, and before I forget; for all you cheesecake factory cheese cake lovers, the cheesecake factory is having a special on slices of cheesecake for 1.50(dine in only) on July 30, 2008, I'm assuming its all locations :) I need to stop eating!!, on second thought, people should stop making yummy food!!! hands down to a great night<333

Fish Tacos

Are amazing! I was invited to my bfs sister home for dinner, and she made fish tacos. So for some of you who haven't had fish tacos, these specific fish taco had a sort of salad like topping which included: shredded cabbage, tomatos, lemon juice, onions, cucumbers and cilantro, then there was a choice of either shrimp or fish which was deep fried in batter. hands down to a great dinner, and a night full of laughter and fun :)

Fresh Leafy Guilt

So I finally tried Tender Greens. The mood of the restaurant, I would have to say was very welcoming it reminding me of California Chicken Cafe. It is very Urban looking and its not bright inside which was a + it was sort of crowded for early dinner. There were big signs on the side when you first enter, which made it very easy to order. I order the Chinese chicken salad, honestly to say I was not very satisfied with my meal. First of all the chicken in that salad tasted kind of strange, and I was sure they used random chicken pieces even the weird brown parts I even saw some veins. However, the wonton strips, roasted peanuts, spicy greens(although I think it would have been better if they used baby romane heads) green onions and sesame dressing was great. Im not the huge fan of cilantro, but i had forgotten to tell them to not add it into my salad so overall my first time experience tasting was not a joyous one. The Chinese chicken salad from California Chicken cafe is still my #1 choice, but that isn't to say that I will never return to Tender Greens to try the other many yummyful sounding choices on their menu :)
